The wood spans 130.32 hectares and is part of the Chiddingfold Forest area which covers 840 hectares in south-west Surrey near the West Sussex border. The site lies within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Great place for an easy hike....most of it is flat so should be good for all age groups....the lost canal was lost in the true sense as it was dried up (see pictures) but there was lush green vegetation growing in it.... Was surprisingly quite....4 cars in total when we visited on a Sunday afternoon
Great place for a stroll, with our without the dog. Peaceful and a fair sized woodland to wander around. Picnic area also!
Lovely walk along the disused canal amongst the primroses, wood anemones and early bluebells.
