Cawdor Wood
Cawdor Wood is a large mixed woodland of 329.30 hectares (813.71 acres) located near Nairn in the Scottish Highlands, adjacent to historic Cawdor Castle. The wood contains remnants of ancient oakwood with a diverse mix of tree species and hosts many rare lichens. The site is noted for its diversity of native and migrant birds, including capercaillie and waxwings.

History
Adjacent to historic Cawdor Castle which dates from the early 14th Century. The walk can be combined with a visit to the castle.
Reviews
Lovely forest walk with a decent path to follow up and back down to the castle 🏰 area. Some biodiversity, matured trees 🌳 and a steep deep gorge to see. The tranquility and forest air quality are healing and this is a winter visit. I guess is even better in the other seasons.
Lovely place to explore and come across Cawdor Castle aswell.. Just remember how to get back to your car as if not familiar can be easy to get lostish.. We had great fun exploring though..
