Botley Wood
Botley Wood is a 108-hectare Local Nature Reserve located in the heart of South Hampshire. It is an extensive area of varied woodland, scrub and grassland featuring rides and ancient droveways. The woods are of exceptional importance for wildlife.

Wildlife
Rich variety of scarce plants and animals. Notable for rare butterflies including the Purple Emperor. Network of tracks, ditches and trails home to many scarce plant species. Designated as a high-value conservation area.
History
The woodland was formally a wetland and coppiced woodland. Now comprises plantation stands of conifer, though areas between plantations harbour most species of interest. Management focuses on maintaining and enhancing open areas, with plans for harvesting conifer stands to encourage natural regeneration of native woodlands.
